Hi hi! I've been designing facial expressions for feature for a few months now. It's been a great learning experience so far and I wanted to measure what changed since I started. So here are some sketches of old characters I am dusting off.
Recently a St-Lawrence beluga lost his way and ended up around Montreal. It is most unlikely, since belugas live in salty water. No attempt was made to help him out (it was a HE, and thus didn't matter for the health of the St-Lawrence beluga population). He stayed there for at least a good week and people could sometimes see him popping out near the Vieux Port. He eventually disappeared. Probably got sick from the ugly water around Montreal and died. (I would NEVER bath around there!!).
I was quite sad for him. So I ended drawing a beluga receiving a hand from a friendly little gal to find his way back home.
I finished it a month ago. I don't why I didn't post it up to now. It's about time now!
I used to go watch the Beluga at my grand-ma's place when I was younger. I was shocked to learn recently that there only is around 100 of them left.
Been a while since I've been wanting to update this blog! I guess it is time :)
I've been working with great people at Tinman Creative for a few months now. They are awesome! I had the chance to contribute with them to this awesome music video for the band All Time Low.
I did the "band playing stuff", and some walk cycles.
I still need to figure out a a way to upload this video with a decent image quality. Soon, I hope!
The song is Ostinato del Caminito from Black Prarie. Get their albums here!!!

I am still working on that animation. Here is a finished first version of it. A nice animator from Montreal city gave me great advices on how to improve it, so you should see another version soon. Feel free to comment! Desynchronizing when she settles, fixing the dragging hair and feathers, adding some betweens, and some other things.
Also, first clean up work in TV Paint! Gosh I love this software!! So glad I bought this thing.

I brought with me a peg bar and some animation paper when I left home to the coffee shop. I love my work station at home, but I needed to change the scenery a little bit.
Don't ask me what is what and why she has some sort of ghostly tail instead of legs. I was just doodling around and flipping stuff and didn't really planned anything. It was a really enjoyable experience and will do it again.
I inbetweened it with Flash just to have a quick idea of the timing. I haven't decided yet how I will clean up everything.
If you have any comment or suggestion, feel free to tell. At this stage, it's easy to improve stuff.
I am still trying to figure out the right butt curve for this little lady here. I'd like to practice my animation skills on one of my own design for a change ;) So once her design is settled, you might see her moving around sometimes.
The other sketches are juste random ones I thought deserved to be shown here. Enjoy!!
Here is part of my sketchbook 2012. Maybe you noticed there was almost no sketchbook entry for 2011. 2011 has bee a tough year for me and I had to take a break of many things to heal my mind. Now I feel like I am rediscovering the pleasure of drawing for myself, which didn't happen for a long time.
But this is past now. It feels like I'm healed and I am filling pages and pages of sketchbook again! More to come soon. :)
Hi! I've been gone for several months. It's habit of me. And this time the reason is I was involved in the animation of the French feature film Magasin des Suicides (Suicide Shop). It was a great experience. A long 6 months of hard work, lot's of new things learned. I can't show any of my work before the theatrical release (16th of May), but here's a short trailer. One of my animation is featured there, the hands typing on the cash machine. :) So short! But more to show in May 2012!!
I will be at Spring Indie Craft Faire 2011, selling teddies and other small crafted objects. Can't wait ! Now working hard hard to have everything ready. You can find more info HERE !
Hi hi ! Been a while since I did a drawing post in this drawing blog. There are piles and piles of sketch waiting for being scanned, but have been to lazy to finish the job. Working on computer kind of drive me away from it once at home. Anyway, I've been experiencing more of my good old geekiness recently. and started with some friends a D&D game. This just made me remember what is the frustration I live each time I play video games : the lack of possibilities.
Lots of pointy eared stuff in the following sketches. ^.^
